Keystone High School's Programs

When you graduate, you want to know you'll be prepared for whatever career you choose. Keystone's broad curriculum includes courses that are relevant in the real world.

Course Selection Guidelines for Career Prep Students

The Keystone course selection guidelines meet the needs of most career prep students. However, we strongly recommend reviewing your final course selections with a Keystone Admissions Representative prior to enrolling.

Language Arts

English 1 may substitute Grammar and Composition, and Business Writing may substitute English 4.

Language Arts Progression:

4 Credits Required

Grammar and Composition (1 credit)
English 2 (1 credit)
English 3 (1 credit)
English 4 (1 credit)

Language Arts Options:


English 1 (1 credit)
Business Writing (1 credit)

Math

Refresher Math, Pre-Algebra, and Algebra 1 are required. For additional math credits select courses from Options.

Math Progression:

3 Credits Required

Refresher Math (1 credit)
Pre-algebra (1 credit)
Algebra 1 (1 credit)

Math Options:


Geometry 1 (1 credit)
Algebra 2 (1 credit)

Science

Life Science, Earth Science, and Physical Science are required. For additional science credits select courses from Options.

Science Progression:

3 Credits Required

Life Science (1 credit)
Earth Science (1 credit)
Physical Science (1 credit)

Science Options:


Biology (1 credit)
Chemistry (1 credit)

Social Science

Geography and Civics are required. To meet the four credit Social Science requirement, select two additional courses from Options.

4 Credits Required

World History (1 credit)
American History (1 credit)
Psychology (1 credit)
Sociology (1 credit)

Fine Arts

1 Credit Required
Art and Music Appreciation (1 credit) or Fine Art (1 credit)

Health Education

Health (1 credit) or Life Time Fitness (1 credit)

Electives

5 Credits Required

Career Planning (0.5 credits) is recommended.
Credits earned beyond requirements in a subject are earned as elective credit.
Students may also choose from a variety of electives listed in the course catalog.
