The Keystone National High School Program

Is this school accredited? If so, by whom?

Yes, Keystone's demonstrated record of success has earned it recognition from the one of the leading accrediting boards in the country, the Northwest Association of Accredited Schools and the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). Keystone is also licensed by the Pennsylvania State Board of Private Licensed Schools and authorized by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as a diploma granting institution.

You can be confident that your Keystone education is of the highest quality, and that other accredited schools widely accept the work you do. Although not all schools guarantee that Keystone credits are transferable, we rarely have an issue. Should you have a doubt, you should contact your local school official directly or contact a Keystone Admissions Representative (1-800-255-4937) to work with you and your local school officials to determine acceptance of Keystone credits.

Does the program have an age limit?

No, Keystone is open to students of all ages. Our mission at Keystone is to help students from all backgrounds and personal situations achieve their individual potential, so we make every attempt to enroll students that are a fit for our program. The only prerequisite is the successful completion of the eighth grade, as evidenced by a school transcript, a homeschooling portfolio, or standardized test scores indicating on or above eighth grade level performance in all subject areas.

Advanced students in earlier grades may take an individual course with the approval of a school official if their objective is to transfer credits back to their resident high school.

For further information or to get started, please speak with an Admissions Representative at 1-800-255-4937, or visit our website at www.keystonehighschool.com.

Can I get my GED through Keystone?

No, but you can get something that is much more valuable -- a Keystone National High School diploma. A Keystone diploma is widely recognized by colleges, universities, employers, and the military.

Attaining your Keystone diploma is an indication that you have completed an academic program of the highest standards and qualities.

How many students are currently enrolled?

There are thousands of students enrolled in Keystone courses at a given point in time. Since its inception in 1974, Keystone (and its predecessor company) has enrolled more than 200,000 students into more than 70,000 courses.

Can students enroll in just one course?

Yes. Students enroll in a single Keystone course for a number of reasons:

-To take one of our innovative online courses that enhance the learning experience through many interactive and visual games;

-To take courses that aren't available in their regular school curriculum;

-To get ahead in their studies;

-To challenge themselves with an Honors or Dual Credit course; or

-To make up for missed classes.

While you are welcome to take just one course, taking a full course load will keep you on track to earn your Keystone diploma in four years or less, if that is your goal

Can I mix online and correspondence courses or do I have to choose one way or the other?

Yes. Feel free to mix online and correspondence courses in whatever combination works best for you.

Our innovative, flexible, and student-focused program allows you to earn an education that fits your own learning style and interests. By managing your own education program and working at your own pace, we believe that you'll develop valuable time management and organizational skills.

Can I view course materials in advance? If materials are purchased and are not satisfactory, what is your refund policy?

Yes. Keystone has sample course materials you may review at any time by calling our Student Services Department at 1-800-255-4937. In addition, you can view a sample of our online courses by clicking here.

Once you are ready to enroll, simply contact Student Services for a complete enrollment package. If you are not fully satisfied once you begin your class, Keystone will refund your tuition based on the date you cancel and the number of assignments you have completed.

Our mission is to help our students achieve their individual potential. Although we do have a refund policy, we are confident that you will be satisfied with our innovative, flexible, student-focused program.

Do you supply books with your online courses?

Most of our online courses include high quality industry-leading textbooks as part of your tuition. Some online courses, however, do not require a textbook as all course materials are provided online. For online courses, all of the supplementary information is contained in the online lessons (see a demonstration by clicking here). Online courses also enhance your learning experience with games, animated visuals, and live chats with teachers and students.

Contact our Student Services Department at 1-800-255-4937 if you would like us to send out a CD demonstration of our online courses along with a catalog of our course materials.

How do you work with children who have special needs?

Our program allows students to study on their own time and at their own pace, which helps to accommodate many special situations. In addition, our certified teachers are trained to work with students from a variety of backgrounds and with varying educational needs. However, we recognize that each individual is unique and may have a need that we've not faced before.

If you have a particular situation you are concerned with, your best course of action is to speak with our Admissions Representative directly at 1-800-255-4937.

How do you work with children who are gifted?

If you want a more challenging program of study, Keystone's innovative, flexible, student-focused education is for you.

Keystone students study on their own time and at their own pace, so to the extent that you want to be challenged, the pace of other students is not a factor. Keystone offers Honors and AP courses, which will allow you to delve deeper into subject material and apply the concepts you learn to test your mastery of the subject material. Although Keystone recommends that students take no more than five courses at a given time, you can petition to increase your load to six or more. Please call 1-800-255-4937 for more information on student course loads.

What languages do you offer? Can I take a language somewhere else and transfer it to Keystone?

Keystone currently offers French, Spanish, German, Chinese, Japanese, and Latin. These courses are available online, providing you with interactive tools and lessons that are specifically designed to improve your language skills and comprehension abilities. In addition, Keystone has recently added the next several levels of language courses (e.g., French II, III, IV), so that students can continue in their mastery of a given language. Spanish is also available in correspondence.

If you have taken language courses somewhere else, fax or mail us your transcript and our Admissions Representative will work with you to determine if your credits transfer over to Keystone. Should you have questions in the meantime, feel free to call our Admissions Representative directly at 1-800-255-4937.

Can students work at an accelerated pace and move on to the next grade?

Yes. Keystone National High School helps you to reach your individual potential by encouraging you to study on your own time and at your own pace.

Keep in mind, however, that Keystone policy states that you may not complete a course in fewer than eight weeks from the date of enrollment. (This policy is based on a belief that a course of any material value takes a minimum amount of time for the student to properly absorb, apply, and be assessed on the content.) Contact our Student Services Department at 1-800-255-4937 for more information on working at an accelerated pace.

Will previously earned credits transfer to Keystone?

Possibly. Most credits earned at accredited high schools and homeschool programs transfer into Keystone. Before you enroll, however, mail your transcript to Keystone National High School, 920 Central Road, Bloomsburg, PA 17815, fax it to 570-784-2129, or email it to info@keystonehighschool.com. Our Admissions Representative will let you know which credits will transfer into our program and which courses you'll need to take from us to earn a Keystone diploma.

Can we use this program if we live outside of the United States?

Yes. Keystone has demonstrated success with students from all backgrounds, situations, and geographic locations — We have students in over 34 countries!

International students may enroll in traditional correspondence or online courses, and course materials for either format can be shipped to any location in the world! If you are taking courses online, of course, you will have 24-hour a day access to your curriculum regardless of where you live and will receive teacher feedback on exams in no more than [72 hours].

If you are thinking of enrolling in Keystone to earn a high school diploma, we need to evaluate how your prior schooling transfers to Keystone. To get this started, either mail your transcript — or home school portfolio -- to Keystone National High School, 920 Central Road, Bloomsburg, PA 17815, fax it to 570-784-2129, or email it to info@keystonehighschool.com. Be sure that your transcript is in English, that it demonstrates a level of work (credits, for example), and that it shows a level of mastery (grades, for example).

Do you accept transcripts from foreign countries?

Yes, provided you send us your transcript according to the following guidelines:

-Mail, (do not fax) true, certified copies of all of your documents

-Include a contact name, address and phone number for your State, Provincial, or National Department of Education so that we can contact them as needed to verify your records and/or obtain information regarding their specific system of granting educational credit.

Once we have received your transcript in good form, our Admissions Representative will complete a transcript evaluation to determine which courses transfer to Keystone and which courses remain to be taken toward graduation. You will be contacted at the completion of the evaluation to inform you of your status. We require a student to take a minimum of five courses (one in each core area plus an elective) in order to graduate from Keystone.

If you have any questions along the way, please contact us at 1-800-255-4937.

What happens if we are traveling and need a leave of absence? Can we do this?

Possibly. If you need to temporarily stop your studies for emergencies or medical situations, contact our Student Services Department at 1-800-255-4937 or by email at info@keystonehighschool.com.

When will I be able to start if I enroll today?

If you are taking online courses, you may begin exploring your course as soon as you receive your password from us — normally 3-5 days from when you enroll!

If you are taking correspondence course through Keystone, you may start your studies as soon as your materials arrive through the mail - generally in fewer than 10 days.
