Lon Edmonds

by Cathy Soukup

This profile of Mr. Edmonds was written by Cathy Soukup, Keystone student and member of the Keystone Connection staff. Following are excerpts from the Teacher Feature:

Mr. Edmonds teaches math at Keystone; his original passion for the subject arose from the fact that math, unlike other academic areas, is always mutable. "The War of 1812 will always be fought in 1812," he points out. History cannot be rearranged as mathematical equations can.

Mr. Edmonds was not always interested in teaching, however. Thirty years ago, he was fascinated by the sport of wrestling and pursued it competitively. In later years, he also helped to coach other wrestlers. His other early jobs included working in construction, loading trucks, and even serving as a swim instructor and lifeguard. Eventually, he decided that being a high school coach would be the best way for him to stay with wrestling, and this would be easiest if he also worked as a teacher.
