Keystone Launches New Comprehensive Program

July 24, 2009

Keystone National High School students will have more options to chart their path to success as Keystone launches 'Keystone Comprehensive' and the full-time version of the Keystone Comprehensive program, 'Keystone-to-College' on September 8, 2009. Keystone Comprehensive and Keystone-to-College feature enhanced teacher and peer interaction and more proactive support and outreach than Keystone's current high school program. Keystone will continue its current high school program under the name 'Keystone Independent'. Initially Keystone Comprehensive and Keystone-to-College will be available to 11th and 12th grade students.

Access to support from licensed teachers is a core feature of all Keystone High School programs. Keystone Comprehensive and Keystone-to-College builds upon this by featuring more discussion and interaction among students and between students and teachers. In addition, Keystone-To-College students are assigned a Student Advocate to support student success from choosing the right courses based on future goals to establishing a schedule and staying on pace.

Beyond the enhanced interaction and support, students who earn their high school diploma through the Keystone-to-College program will receive expedited admission and exclusive scholarship opportunities to Ellis University or Sierra Nevada College. Knowing that their academic future is solid will allow them to focus on excelling in high school and preparing for college.

'The launch of Keystone Comprehensive and Keystone-to-College is the next logical progression of the Keystone model,' says Tim Magner, Executive Director of The Keystone School. 'From the very beginning Keystone has offered students rigorous courses with the flexibility of time and place, empowering our students take ownership of their education. Keystone Comprehensive and Keystone-to-College enable students to further tailor their education to meet their needs. By combining Keystone's strong academic tradition with options for a broad array of new educational and support enhancements boosts our ability to meet students where they are, and help them get where they want to go. Keystone Comprehensive and Keystone-to-College are aimed at the growing number of students who want the flexibility of online learning combined with an engagement and support model that is more proactive than Keystone's current model. It is a higher tech and higher touch option for students who thrive in that kind of an environment.'

'We know that many students thrive in the current Keystone Independent model which is designed for students who reach out teachers and staff when they need support and we will continue to offer this option,' continues Mr. Magner. 'Keystone Comprehensive is designed in response to those students who've told us they want or need additional services and support to be successful.'

Students can pre-enroll in Keystone-To-College and Keystone Comprehensive starting July 17, 2009 and begin their courses on September 8, 2009. Visit www.keystonehighschool.com/programs to learn more.
